John D. Foubert, Ph.D, LLC
John D. Foubert, Ph.D. is Principal of Dr. John D. Foubert, LLC, National President of One in Four (www.oneinfourusa.org) and an Endowed Professor of College Student Development at Oklahoma State University.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from the College of William and Mary, his Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Richmond, and his Ph.D. in College Student Personnel
Administration from the University of Maryland at College Park. Dr. Foubert is an interdisciplinary scholar with over 50 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Foubert has written seven books about the prevention of sexual violence on college campuses and in the military, and two about managing life in college residence halls. His current book, How Pornography Harms, describes what teens, young adults, parents, and pastors need to know to protect the millennial generation from the public health harms of pornography.
His federally funded, interdisciplinary research program has produced scholarship that is featured in some of the most respected peer reviewed journals in Education, Gender Studies and Psychology. His grant work with the U.S. Department of Education and Department of Health and Human Services and Contract Work with the U.S. Department of Defense contract work exceeds $1,000,000. He was the first scholar to document a reduction in sexual violence resulting from a prevention program. He adapted this program for the U.S. Army in Europe and U.S. Air Force in Europe and published the results in a highly respected military journal. He has written extensive curricular materials for the U.S. Army in Europe and the U.S. Naval Academy. He serves on an expert panel through the RAND corporation to help the U.S. Marines evaluate their sexual assault programming. He has also visited the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to discuss the harms of pornography. Dr. Foubert has given over 200 professional presentations to conferences, universities, community and military organizations worldwide.
In 1998, he and a group of colleagues founded One in Four (www.oneinfourusa.org). One in Four is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending rape through means shown to be most effective through scientific research. Since 1993, over 100,000 people at countless universities, state health departments, and military organizations have seen Dr. Foubert’s rape-prevention programs worldwide.
Dr. Foubert has testified Congress and has been called upon by the White House and the Pentagon for his expertise in rape prevention. He speaks at and consults with colleges and the military regularly about the harms of pornography and how to end sexual violence. He appears in the national media on camera or in print several times a month in outlets such as CNN, The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Houston Chronicle, and U.S. News and World Report. Dr. Foubert is also a blogger for the Huffington Post. Given his religious beliefs as a born again Christian, he often speaks at Christian conferences and institutions. He remains in high demand in secular environments.
