The Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation held its first summit at the Tyson’s Corner Marriot not far from the nation’s capital. The multi-day event that began Friday morning and will conclude Saturday brings together researchers, scholars, and activists dedicated to combating pornography.
Hardcore pornography is now so ubiquitous it is becoming a major risk to public health, campaigners and scientists believe. Porn is now so readily available that it is damaging young people’s relationships, leading to an increase in sexual violence, and could even be damaging parts of the brain.
The amount of porn young teenagers are accessing is causing so much damage to their psychological growth it must be seen as a major public health crisis.
The eye-catching claim was made as part of a high-profile US sexual exploitation conference yesterday — and has been backed by a leading Irish rape prevention group, which insisted the issue is increasingly contributing to attacks on women.
