While we take no position in the presidential race, we recognize the leadership the President can have in demanding enforcement of federal obscenity laws. We launched efforts in September 2011 to contact all of the 2012 Presidential Candidates about the pandemic of harm from pornography and the need to enforce federal obscenity laws (See link here). Romney, Santorum and Gingrich all made statements of one kind or another that, if elected, they would enforce federal obscenity laws, something the U.S. Justice Department has failed to do even once under Obama’s administration.
Senator Rick Santorum, though has taken his commitment a step further. He posted his position on his website and is even speaking publicly about the need to enforce the laws. Here is some of the latest coverage:
