Internships at National Center on Sexual Exploitation

Position: Political and Strategy Intern

You will have the opportunity to participate in the following activities: Attend committee meetings on Capitol Hill as well as with individual Congressional members, help organize briefings on the Hill, write briefings and reports for Members of Congress. In addition, intern will be exposed to digital strategies – (maintaining online presence and increasing base of support nationwide), event planning, grassroots mobilization, strategic planning, and other aspects of running a nonprofit organization.

Location: Washington, DC Office

Position: Communications and Strategy Intern

You will have the opportunity to write press releases and other articles, build press contact lists, pitch stories, and draft media strategies. In addition, intern will be exposed to digital strategies – (maintaining online presence and increasing base of support nationwide), event planning, grassroots mobilization, strategic planning, and other aspects of running a nonprofit organization.

Location: Washington, DC Office

Position: Development Intern

This internship is designed for individuals with a strong desire to make a difference. Under the supervision of the Director of Development, you will help with all aspects of fundraising – write proposals and grants, manage relationships with donors, develop a fundraising strategy, data management, manage correspondence with donors and potential donors, event planning and more.

Location: Washington, DC Office

Position: Legal Intern

The duties of the Legal Intern include legal researching and writing (including possibly helping on legal briefs) on topics of obscenity, indecency, harmful to minors, and related laws. The Intern will also join MIM’s team on visits to U.S. Senate and House offices for policy meetings and attend strategy meetings on Capitol Hill and to the offices of our allies. In addition, the Intern may be called upon to draft correspondence, track pending legislation, and to otherwise assist NCSE staff with their duties.

It is preferred that the individual have legal experience and is seeking or already obtained a law degree.

Location: Washington, DC Office, possible option for remote work if individual is a self-starter and can turn around projects in a timely manner

Position: Graphic Designer & Campaign Development Intern

Morality in Media is a national non-profit organization dedicated to educating about the harms of pornography, namely its links to sex trafficking, violence against women, child abuse and addiction. We are currently seeking a graphic artist intern who is talented, reliable, and goal-oriented. Interested candidates should have hands on design experience via school and/or work training with a portfolio showcasing their work. The intern will work directly with the Executive Director and our Project Director to provide creative artwork for design and web projects. They will develop modern web design, graphics, information materials and logos for an educational campaign. Proficient in CS, HTML and ability to turn around projects in a timely manner. Qualifications:

  • Passionate about opposing sexual exploitation
  • Strong organization skills are essential
  • Proactive
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Independent worker – must be able to complete tasks without constant management from staff
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications: Mail merge, formatting letters, data management in Excel, etc.
  • Strong writing and communication skills. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the web and digital marketing techniques (preferred)

Compensation: NCSE will give a stipend for Metro fare. There is sometimes a possibility of full-time salaried employment following the completion of the internship.

Hours: Flexible. Full and part time hours are possible. Rolling start dates, but looking for 6 week – 6 month commitments.
