We believe that no corporation or business should profit from, or facilitate, sexual exploitation.
Together, we can call on hotel corporations to stop selling on-demand pornography, to increase training for employees to recognize and respond to potential sex trafficking scenarios, and to refuse to facilitate pornography or sex conferences.
Pornography expos are built around an industry that glorifies sexual violence against women, and the perpetuation of rape myths, and are therefore incompatible with any mainstream venue. Further, they can be linked to increased demand for sex trafficking and prostitution in the area. Over the course of one pornography expo in Dallas, Dallas police reported that the event was directly linked to several arrests of men seeking to buy sex.
Hotels must recognize that guest safety and comfort are no compatible with these exploitive events, the sale of pornography, or environments where sex trafficking and prostitution is ignored.
