Lisa Thompson
Vice President of Research
Lisa Thompson serves as Vice President of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation’s Research Institute, where she oversees NCOSE’s efforts to harness the power of data to create a world free from sexual abuse and exploitation. In this role Lisa conducts analysis on a wide range of issues related to sexual abuse and exploitation such as the impacts of sexual objectification, pornography, prostitution, sex trafficking, image-based sexual abuse, and consumer-level demand for prostitution on individuals and society.
Lisa has given numerous presentations on sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, has facilitated training events for a diverse range of audiences, and has written about sexual trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation for a variety of publications. She is the author of the report The High States of AI Ethics: Evaluating OpenAI’s Potential Shift to “NSFW” Content and Other Concerns, co-author of National Assessment of Demand Reduction Efforts Part II: New Developments in the Primary Prevention of Sex Trafficking, Final Report, and contributing author to Hands that Heal: International Curriculum for Caregivers of Trafficking Survivors. Lisa also contributed two chapters to the book Global Perspectives on Prostitution and Sex Trafficking: Europe Latin America, North America, and Global about the use of torture by pimps, as well as the policy conflicts between sex trafficking abolitionists and HIV/AIDS advocates. She has provided expert testimony to the U.S. Congress.
Lisa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Government from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Arts in Leadership, Public Policy and Social Issues from Union Institute and University. She has worked in the field of anti-sexual exploitation for 25 years.
