WASHINGTON, DC (September 30, 2026) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) joined 114 child safety advocates in calling on Senate leadership to bring the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), with wide bipartisan support and 77 cosponsors, for a vote.
“The Kids Online Safety Act should be a high-priority item for the Senate to vote on and pass before the mid-term elections. The recent Meta settlement is only part of the equation when it comes to comprehensive online child protection. KOSA’s strong ‘Duty of Care’ will hold tech platforms accountable for ensuring safety-by-design principles are instituted – not optional or able to be ignored,” said Haley McNamara, Executive Director and Chief Strategy Officer, National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
“Digital platforms like Meta, Roblox, and TikTok have been in court for not acting quickly enough to protect kids, and blatantly ignoring problems that have led children and teens to connect with predators, harmful content, drugs, suicide challenges, and to be sexually exploited online. Children have even died. Congress must join the momentum to protect children online so that more children do not suffer.”
