WHO: National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE)

EVENT: Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation (CESE) Summit

WHEN: September 29-October 1, 2016

WHERE: Omni Houston Hotel Westside, 13219 Katy Freeway Houston, TX, 77079

WHY: The Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation (CESE) Summit is like an international board meeting for the rising movement to combat the full spectrum of sexual exploitation. Experts are recognizing that issues like sex trafficking, child sexual abuse, pornography, and sexual assault do not exist in a vacuum. So hundreds of advocates and researchers are gathering from more than 30 states and 7 countries at the CESE Summit to address the full spectrum of sexual exploitation.

Houston grassroots efforts will unite with national and international experts, to address the latest research and strategies to end sexual harm. Parents will be trained on how to talk to their kids about pornography, police officers will be trained about sexual violence, and activists will learn about anti-trafficking efforts surrounding the 2017 Super Bowl as well as a host of other topics related to the continuum of sexual exploitation.

Nancy Jo Sales, award winning journalist and New York Times best-selling author, will speak at the Thursday night banquet concerning her book American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers and the impact of technology, sexting, and objectification on the lives of America’s youth.

Ed Smart, Vice President of the Elizabeth Smart Foundation and father of kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart, will speak at the Friday night dinner on the importance of recognizing the links between sexual abuse, child endangerment, and pornography.

Other topics to be addressed include:
