WHEREAS, pornography represents the photographic or video depiction of sexual exploitation of a human being; and
WHEREAS, pornography depicts a distorted, debased image of human sexuality, devoid of love, responsibility and commitment; and
WHEREAS, women are exploited, degraded, subjected to verbal and physical abuse, and exposed to sexually transmitted diseases in the production of hardcore pornography; and
WHEREAS, pornography contributes to sexual violence against women and contributes to the demand for women and children trafficked into prostitution; and
WHEREAS, children molest other children in imitation of what they see in pornography; and
WHEREAS, current neuroscience supports an addictive model for pornography, on par with drug addiction; and
WHEREAS, addiction to pornography often prevents, damages and destroys marriages and harms families; and
WHEREAS, frequent consumption of pornography contributes to on-the-job sexual harassment and to a decline in worker productivity; and
WHEREAS, for many individuals, both young and old, there occurs a migration from viewing adult pornography to viewing child pornography, which has resulted in overwhelming numbers of child pornographers and sexually exploited children; and
WHEREAS, adult pornography is used by sexual predators both to stimulate themselves and to “groom”(entice, desensitize and instruct) their child victims;
THEREFORE, (Name), whenever possible and when in control of housing selections, will refuse to patronize any hotel, motel or commercial place of lodging that includes pornographic or so-called “adult” channels in its television offerings.
