Washington, D.C. (March 26, 2015) – National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCSE) announces the removal of American Apparel from the annual Dirty Dozen List of top contributors to and profiteers from sexual exploitation in the United States. NCSE praises the retailer for the reevaluation and apparent change to the organization’s leadership, advertising strategy and brand identity, which have been purposely done to avoid the sexual exploitation of women just to sell products. This week, the retailer also cleaned up its online ads by deleting pornographic images from its site.

Washington, D.C. (March 23, 2015) – Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) unanimously voted to enforce the federal broadcast indecency law after an eight-year hiatus. Today’s enforcement vote came against television station WDBJ, Roanoke Virginia, (parent company Schurz Communications) regarding a July 12, 2012, 6 p.m. broadcast news clip that featured a porn video clip.

Alarming New Study: Rise in Youth-Produced Child Pornography

Washington, DC (March 11, 2015) – A new research study concludes there is an, “increasing trend for distribution of sexually explicit content produced by younger children using laptop webcams.” The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and Microsoft participated in the study, examining 3,803 images and videos, of “youth-produced sexual content” depicting young people and uploaded by the children or covertly recorded by a third party. The report, “Emerging Patters and Trends Report #1 Youth-Produced Sexual Content, was published on March 10, 2015.
