WASHINGTON, DC (April 30, 2024) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) said that the U.S. Supreme Court decision to deny an emergency appeal challenging Texas’ age verification law designed to protect minors from accessing online pornography was just. The Texas law requires pornography websites to verify their users are adults.
“We believe the Supreme Court made the right decision to uphold the law protecting Texas children from accessing online pornography. Online pornography is rampant with content that includes sexual assault, rape, child sexual abuse, image-based sexual abuse, along with other abusive, violent, and racist themes. The law was designed to prevent children’s ability to view this harmful content, while not infringing on adults’ ability to access,” said Benjamin Bull, general counsel, National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
