Pornhub Under Fire for Hosting Child Sexual Abuse, Sex Trafficking Videos
Washington, DC (February 3, 2021) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is urging the Canadian Parliament to ensure that executives of Pornhub’s parent company, MindGeek, are held to account for profiting from child sexual abuse and sex trafficking material found on Pornhub. MindGeek executives are scheduled to testify before the Parliament Ethics Committee on Friday, February 5.
“Pornhub executives must be held to account for its business model that has been dependent on a broad range of criminal and exploitative content, including: child sexual abuse material, sexual assault, non-consensually distributed pornography, spy camera material, as well as videos with teen, incest, and racist themes. MindGeek incentivizes the production and sharing of this content for profit. The Canadian Parliament has a unique opportunity to hold MindGeek executives to account,” said Benjamin Bull, general counsel for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
“The Canadian Parliament heard courageous testimony from a 19-year-old woman who suffered abuse as a child and whose abuse videos were uploaded to Pornhub. She deserves justice, as do countless other survivors who have been victimized by Pornhub.
“MindGeek executives will attempt to paint their business as legitimate, but Parliament should see through this façade. MindGeek is there to fill the demand for pornography with children, incest, rape, racism, and violence against women; there is no way to turn that into a picture of legitimacy. Pornhub must be shut down,” Bull said.
