Washington, DC (March 25, 2020) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation condemned Pornhub for continuing its masquerade as a legitimate business by opening up free access to its hardcore pornography library which includes themes of incest, child/teen sexual abuse, and extreme violence.

“Pornhub, a.k.a. #TraffickingHub, continues its futile attempt to buy credibility by marketing its harmful and extreme hardcore pornography to a world fighting against COVID-19 – a shameful way to leverage a crisis for profit. For those who are tempted to think that this is a no-risk offer, understand a U.S. Senator has called on the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate Pornhub for its ‘alleged involvement in videos of women and children being raped and sex trafficked,’” said Dawn Hawkins, senior vice president and executive director of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.

“Pornhub/#Traffickinghub – which requires no legitimate forms of age-verification from users who are uploading content – ultimately is fueling demand for sexual abuse material and putting lives at great risk.

Research has found mainstream pornography—with its common themes of incest, racism, and violence against women—is linked to negative impacts on the brain and sexual development, and is driving harms such as offline sexual violence, increased sex trafficking, and more.”
