WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 28, 2013) – This week marks the Morality in Media’s 26th Annual White Ribbon Against Pornography Week from October 27-November 4.  WRAP Week events are hosted around the country to raise awareness about the harms of pornography. Morality in Media will highlight a specific harm each day and provide information and resources at http://pornharms.com/beaware/about-wrap and on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PornHarms.

“America is suffering an untreated pandemic of harm from pornography,” said Dawn Hawkins, Executive Director of MIM. “It is destroying marriages and families and is the main contributor to the sexual exploitation of women and children. Pornography is also the gateway to the sex industry.  The harm of pornography now touches every American family and Morality in Media is determined that this harm must end,” she said.

Morality in Media leads off WRAP Week with the problem of addiction to pornography followed by the harms to children, connection to sexual trafficking, the effects on marriage and families, and the downward spiral to child pornography. The week will end by featuring resources and groups that can help individuals and families overcome these harms and addiction.
