ICANN approves plans for .xxx domain name

The International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has approved plans to introduce .xxx as a new top-level domain name.

ICANN’s board of directors had a public meeting at Silicon Valley, situated in San Francisco, last Friday (March 18th) and gave the go-ahead to plans that could see new domain registrations in the near future …

The move had led to criticism from various groups, however, including Patrick Trueman, chief executive of Morality in Media.

He told the Washington Times that the pornography will be more widespread following the news.
