The 3rd target during our 2019 12 Days of Action Dirty Dozen List push is Massage Envy.
From July 26-28, let’s work together for change by concentrating national attention on Massage Envy. Massage Envy made its debut on this year’s Dirty Dozen List for facilitating sexual assault and harassment with poor policies, forcing customers to surrender their rights, and encouraging their employees to not take appropriate action when reports of sexual assault/harassment came forth.
Because of the rampant sexual assault and harassment perpetrated by Massage Envy massage therapists and the delayed and poor reactions by Massage Envy staff and executives, many clients who have been on the receiving end of these crimes have decided to take matters into their own hands. That is why so many reports and lawsuits have been filed against Massage Envy in recent years.
Shockingly, however, Massage Envy still tries to sneak a clause into their customer agreement forcing women to give up their rights to “assert or bring any claim, demand, or legal action” against them! In addition, Massage Envy does not even require reporting of suspected assaults to the Massage Therapy Board. This has facilitated further sexual exploitation of other clients by the same massage therapists, creating more victims in the process and obstructing justice for those involved.
Clearly, Massage Envy has a problem that is in critical need of attention and action. Join us in calling on Massage Envy to make their organization a safe place for women to relax and feel comfortable–a place where sexual assault or harassment in any form is completely unacceptable and dealt with immediately and appropriately!
