Washington, DC (June 18, 2021) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is supportive of The Human Trafficking and Exploitation Prevention Training Act, introduced by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), which amends the Public Health Service Act to implement a school curriculum that trains teachers/parents/students in recognizing the signs of human trafficking.
“Education is the best preventative measure to supporting at-risk youth. This bill takes a conscientious approach to focus on those too often forgotten or marginalized by society by creating educational programming that can help identify and aid those already being trafficked. Also, by utilizing curricula from groups that are survivor-focused and locally-led, early detection of vulnerable individuals will be more quickly identified and aided sooner to avoid further harm,” said Dawn Hawkins, CEO of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
