WASHINGTON, DC (August 10, 2021) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) commended Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO), along with 101 members of Congress, for calling for a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into OnlyFans for potential criminality as a marketplace for child sexual abuse material.Â
Â
“With the rise in child sexual abuse material online, the U.S. Department of Justice should investigate the growing number of reports by law enforcement and child safety organizations that minors are being sold on OnlyFans. Instances of sex trafficking and image-based abuse through OnlyFans is also coming to light. Like the other major companies in the commercial sex industry – Pornhub, XVideos, Xhamster – OnlyFans preys and profits from abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people, and potential criminality must be investigated,” said Dawn Hawkins, CEO of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.Â
Â
OnlyFans is on NCOSE’s 2021 Dirty Dozen List of mainstream contributors to sexual exploitation. OnlyFans makes money off of vulnerable people’s bodies – especially the bodies of women and minors. Exploiting financial insecurities deepened by the COVID-19 crisis, OnlyFans promises fast cash, empowerment, and even fame. While “Fans” may pay fees for nude images, videos, and livestreams, it is the “creators” who pay the high price of psychological, emotional, and physical harm that the sex industry imparts.Â
