Washington, DC (November 8, 2021) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) has announced that Dawn Hawkins has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer taking over from Patrick A. Trueman. Ms. Hawkins had served as NCOSE’s Executive Director since 2011. Trueman will continue to serve as NCOSE’s president.
“We are thrilled to announce Dawn Hawkins as NCOSE’s new Chief Executive Officer. Her passion and outstanding vision for defending the dignity of all humans has led to her commitment to confront sexual exploitation in all its forms. As CEO, she will provide steadfast leadership to the fight against sexual abuse and exploitation,” said Trueman.
“Dawn was the key to re-imagining the National Center on Sexual Exploitation since its founding by an interfaith group of ministers and rabbis in 1962. Her work has led to NCOSE tackling buyer demand for commercial sex, to creating an international movement through our Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation Global Summit, opposing legislation that would further endanger vulnerable women, children, and men, to creating the annual announcement of the Dirty Dozen List of sexual exploiters, and most importantly, to demanding justice for survivors of sexual exploitation,” Trueman said.
“Dawn has been instrumental, if not the seminal figure, in the global movement to end sexual exploitation that has emerged in the last decade,” Trueman added.
“I long for a world where my children can grow up without the dangers that come with an Internet that has no accountability for their safety, a world where women, children, and marginalized communities aren’t devalued, exploited or sold, a world where each person can live free form the influences of pornography and the predatory commercial sex industry. I am honored to serve as NCOSE’s CEO and am dedicated to a grand goal and vision: a world truly free from all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation,” Hawkins said.
