NCOSE Supports New Bills to Aid Sex Trafficking Survivors

NCOSE Press Statement logo

WASHINGTON, DC (April 1, 2022) – The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) supports new efforts in Congress to provide further support to sex trafficking survivors. The Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2022 (TVPRA), was introduced into the U.S. Senate by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.). The Abolish Human Trafficking Act was introduced into the U.S. Senate by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).

Together the bills reauthorize the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 extending and updating programs for domestic human trafficking survivors. They establish a wide range of measures to address human trafficking and the needs of victims.

“Sex trafficking survivors must have the full extent of the law available to them in order to seek and secure justice for injustices committed against them. These bills will ensure survivors have access to necessary recovery services. They are designed to help stem sex trafficking and assist survivors, and we urge Congress to pass both of these critical measures,” said Dawn Hawkins, CEO of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.
