We really like The Mighty Dollar and went there weekly. On one of our visits, my son Daniel and my Sister Amy were with me. We were getting ready to check out when there was a box on a table. We went over to check it out and to our surprise, found Pam Anderson naked. I told my son & sister, lets get away from this stuff, This we don’t need! My Mom went in, but then saw a Playboy, “Fast Women” was on a front table right next to the balloons. I was appalled! This stuff was there right out in the open, where kids surely go. I therefore called the police. The store employee overheard and immediately put out an “Adults Only” sign. The police later called me and said that they couldn’t do anything because the store wasn’t breaking the laws. It still bothered me though. The fact that children could walk right up to these areas and then view and touch these magazines. My Mother and I decided to do something more. We started calling and emailing the local churches about our concerns and many called the city police. They were all told the same thing, the store wasn’t breaking a law. We found out that there are laws against certain photos or other displays, provided they fit under the legal definitions of “obscenity.” The cops said this wasn’t fitting under those laws though.
I couldn’t seem to get the official’s to take a stand so we came up with another plan. I emailed the NC Local news channels and emailed the editorial of the local Newspapers. To my great surprise, one of the News channels got back with me and wanted to run the story.

The Charlotte Channel news man (Dave Faherty) looked into it further, saw the videos there for himself and ran a story. Many people saw it and then complained. Our newsman went back and the videos were all gone! The manager didn’t want to lose business. We were so happy that these were removed!
Although it feels you are standing alone and everything that you do seems hopeless, you can really make a difference in your community. There are others standing up for this too. I can honestly say don’t give up!
Take a stand in your local area!
