A group of researchers just published a study that concludes porn use directly impacts real-life sexual experiences for the worse.
Not surprising to those who have been affected. But, having this research that now proves what we’ve been saying for decades is powerful ammunition.
Published in the December edition of the peer-reviewed journal, Archives of Sexual Behavior, the study surveyed 487 males, between ages 18-29 in the United States. The researchers found that pornography alters the sexual template of men, negatively influencing their expectations in the real world. They were able to conclude that the younger the age at which men were first exposed to pornography, the higher their current use of pornography. The study established that men who view high rates of pornography are more likely to rely on it to become and remain sexually excited, and are more likely to integrate pornography in sexual activities with a real person. The researchers were also able to conclude that pornography consumption relates to decreased enjoyment of sex with a real partner.

While it is discouraging to know porn is affecting people in such a devastating way, it is good to know we’re all fighting so hard for a reason. The science proves exactly how harmful porn is to relationships and society.
You can’t argue with facts, though I’m sure the pornographers and pro-porn advocates will try.
One of our goals is to help the public understand what the research is saying. As new studies are released, we will work to get this information to the press. We sent a press release this week about this monumental study, and we are seeing it picked up in many places. It was at the top of Drudge Report yesterday where it got good coverage and here are some more news articles:
Help us bring this kind of research to the public! The more people who know about the devastating effects of porn, the more we can help curb the devastating harms and change our culture.
Please consider a donation to help these efforts. Any amount you give will be used to fight the sexual exploitation of women, children and men.
Yours in the fight,
