The fight to end sexual exploitation is massive and multifaceted, and 2019 was a year filled with victories and building momentum that bodes well for the movement in 2020 and beyond.

The real objective of full decriminalization is an unregulated prostitution marketplace, where people can be sexually exploited with impunity. The National Center on Sexual Exploitation is helping hold the line in order to protect the rights of the vulnerable and marginalized.

The National Center on Sexual exploitation is urging every state to pass legislation prohibiting so called “mistake of age” defenses for perpetrators of child sex trafficking and related offenses such as, soliciting a child for prostitution, buying a commercial sex act from a minor, promoting prostitution of a minor, and commercial exploitation of a minor.

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation, together with other leading experts in many disciplines, is working to expose the public health crisis of pornography. We are continuing to work to get the help of government, corporate, and opinion leaders to begin to solve these complex problems.

The crime of child sexual abuse is sadly a familiar one to the American public. However, one category of child sexual abuse has largely escaped the public’s attention: child-on-child harmful sexual behavior. This issue is extremely complex.

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation is shining a light on these complex problems and is insisting that policymakers, medical professionals, educators, and more come together to not only provide help and healing for the victim but to also provide help and healing for the youth who offends.

Until now, there has been no voice in the courts and legislatures advocating for human dignity and against all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation.

In the vacuum of a national legal strategy on these issues, pro-sexual exploitation lobbyists have stepped in to promote radical and damaging legislation and legal precedents promoting pornography, prostitution, sexually grooming children for abuse, increasing sex trafficking, and more.

Info about legislation that recognizes the link between drugs and sex trafficking (Info on the fight to end sexual exploitation)Legislation Recognizing the Link Between Drugs and Sex Trafficking

One unfortunate and under-addressed aspect of human trafficking is the use of drugs by traffickers to control and exploit vulnerable populations. Data shows that drug use and human trafficking are intrinsically connected and, in the midst of the current opioid epidemic, we are seeing criminals across the country use this connection to their advantage.

Over and over the movement to end sexual exploitation has seen the major impact survivor voices can have, so the survivor-informed approach of this bill made it even more important and worthy of support.

The pro-sexual exploitation industry is getting nervous.

The fact that the momentum of research and public opinion have turned against them is causing them to lash out. Their exploitation and profits are in jeopardy now, and the movement to end sexual exploitation has huge opportunities in 2020 (and beyond) to take even more ground on behalf of human dignity.

We are so grateful to count you as an ally and are excited for the victories to come!

As mentioned above, right now we have a massive $3 million matching gift opportunity.

That’s right, your impact in 2020 (and beyond) can be DOUBLED!

Jake Roberson

Director of Communications

As director of communications and being in charge of creative and digital strategy, Jake’s work with the National Center on Sexual Exploitation is to expose and subvert the complex web of sexual exploitation’s interconnectivity by leveraging digital mediums as a means for developing relevant tactics to reach, engage, convert, develop, and activate new allies for the fight to end sexual exploitation in all its forms.

Prior to his work with NCOSE, Jake spent five years running social media strategy for a large international nonprofit where he led content and marketing efforts that generated over $22 million in ROI from earned media value in the social media space, ideated creative campaign concepts that raised over $6 million in donations, brought in six figures worth of donation revenue from Facebook alone during his last three fiscal quarters there, and turned social media into one of the organization’s top three most-used resources.

When his work-life balance is well-balanced, Jake spends his time with his wife and four children attempting to convince them to enjoy his favorite hobbies (sports, pop culture, and podcasting) in the few spare moments that aren’t filled with tending to their dreams, passions, and fights over who established possession over the toy first.
