(NASHVILLE, Tenn.April 21, 2015–Victoria Hearst, granddaughter of publisher William Randolph Hearst and founder/president of Praise Him Ministries in Colorado, along with the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCSE) will host a press conference April 22announcing the “Cosmo Harms Minors” campaign. The kick-off event will outline objectives of the initiative, also bringing together nationally respected authorities on sexual exploitation.

Cosmo Harms Minors is a response to the increasing sexually explicit content published by Cosmopolitan Magazine in light of its consumption by minors. The initiative seeks to secure commitments from retailers to wrap Cosmopolitan Magazine and halt sales to minors.

Victoria Hearst comments, “My family’s company, The Hearst Corporation, publishes Cosmopolitan Magazine. It contains graphic adult sexual material that, under most states’ ‘material harmful to minors’ laws, is deemed pornographic. Under these laws it is illegal for stores to sell Cosmopolitan to minors and illegal to display the magazine where minors can see it and look at its content.

“Unfortunately, the people in authority at the Hearst Corporation refuse to acknowledge that Cosmopolitan is pornography, and they refuse to put a label on the magazine identifying it as ‘adult material.’ That is why the ‘Cosmo Harms Minors’ campaign is necessary.”

The press conference will address this concern–with testimony from Dawn Hawkins, executive director of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, and Dr. Miriam Grossman, MD– as well as issue a practical “call to action” with steps toward achieving the campaign’s end.

Additional experts in attendance are Visiting Professor of Law at Liberty School of Law, Judith A. Reisman, Ph.D.; Senior Litigation Counsel at Liberty Counsel, Mary E. McAlister; Dr. Susan Berry, contributor to Breitbart News; psychiatrist and author Dr. Miriam Grossman; Dr. Diane Foley, president/CEO of Life Network as well as representative for the American College of Pediatricians; and internationally renowned love, marriage and sex expert Joe Beam.

The event will be held at 10:00 am EST at the National Press Club located at 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20045. For more information, visit: cosmoharmsminors.com.
