Urgent Call to Action
The time is now. After 4 years of relentless work, countless hearings, meetings, and emails, we are closer than ever to passing the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA)—a bill that will protect children from online harm and save lives!
But we are in the final two weeks before Congress ends, and Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader Steve Scalise have been blocking the bill from coming to the floor for a vote.
We have the votes. We have the momentum. We just need to pass this bill before the current legislative session ends.
Why Now? Breaking News
We know these last few months have been especially intense. You’ve heard us ask again and again. But momentum is shifting in ways we’ve never seen before:
- Last week: We met with Speaker Johnson’s office.
- This weekend: X CEO, Elon Musk, and Donald Trump Jr. endorsed KOSA, calling for a vote.
- This week: Over a dozen parents whose children tragically died after experiencing harm on social media are in D.C.
- Dozens of advocates and survivors have joined them to push for this bill.
We are so close. Big Tech knows it, too—and they’re hoping to run out the clock. We can’t let that happen.
Congress must hear us. We need every voice in this fight.
What Is KOSA?
KOSA provides the most comprehensive solution of any child protection bill pending before Congress. The bill holds tech companies legally accountable to designing their products in a way that keeps children safe. It does this by:
- Requiring common-sense safety settings be automatically turned ON for children
- Establishing a legally actionable duty of care for platforms that are likely to be accessed by minors
- Requiring platforms provide safeguards & tools for parents and guardians to protect their children
- Requiring transparency, so that companies must disclose their policies and practices around use of personal data and minors’ safety

- “This bill has bipartisan support. Children’s lives are on the line.”
- “Protect kids, not Big Tech. KOSA must pass before Congress ends.”
- KOSA will not harm online privacy or impact the 1st Amendment, it simply calls on Big Tech to do the bare minimum, like stopping algorithms from pushing harmful content on kids like sexual exploitation, suicide-instructions, and pro-eating disorder content.” [Learn more about addressing misinformation on KOSA here]
